Introducing Air New Zealand SkyNest

Air New Zealand is taking long-haul comfort to new heights with the launch of SkyNest™ – the world’s first sleep pods in the sky for Economy travellers.

Launching on select New York (JFK) – Auckland (AKL) services from late December 2026, SkyNest gives customers travelling between North America and New Zealand the opportunity to lie completely flat, stretch out and enjoy some proper rest during their journey.

What is SkyNest?

SkyNest is a dedicated rest area featuring six individual lie-flat sleep pods, located between the Premium Economy and Economy cabins on Air New Zealand’s newly configured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Each SkyNest session includes:

· Four hours of dedicated rest time

· A full-size pillow

· Sheets and a blanket

· A complimentary Nestcessities amenity kit

· USB-A and USB-C charging

· Personal ventilation

· A reading light

· A seatbelt so customers can remain lying down when required

Fresh bedding is provided for every SkyNest customer.

Who can book SkyNest?

SkyNest is available as an optional add-on for Economy and Premium Economy customers aged 15 years and over.

Customers retain their regular seat for the duration of the flight, with SkyNest providing a dedicated four-hour window where they can swap their seat for a lie-flat rest.
