Sailor for a day!

Life on the ocean is one big adventure! Discover the sailing techniques used by the marine experts. The crew will help you to hoist the sails, climb the mast, and tie marine knots. You will learn the names of the different sails and how to use a sextant. When evening comes and the velvety darkness is punctuated by stars, the ship officers will show you how to navigate at night with the help of the stars.

Nautical events

The Captain’s daily briefing on deck is wonderfully informative and a chance to hear some great story-telling as well.  Onboard activities like knot tying and navigation classes have evolved from Star Clippers’ sailing tradition and offer a unique hands-on experience.

Onboard Activities

Adventurous sorts will love climbing the mast to the crow’s nest or relaxing on the bowsprit netting with the open sea beneath. In fact, the guests always say that it’s the laid-back, casual ambience of Star Clippers that makes a cruise all the more enjoyable.

Local entertainment

Star Clippers invites local performers onboard to entertain the guests with an authentic taste of local music and arts. Rather than enduring another Las Vegas-style show, enjoy the friendliness of fellow shipmates while a live band encourages you to get on your feet and dance.

Venice, Italy

Venice is the heart and soul of romance. Cast your eye on the rounded domes of San Marco, take a deep breath at the Bridge of Sighs, gaze on the golden lions and the Renaissance glories of the Doge's Palace, listen for the ghosts of Verdi, Puccini and Caruso at La Fenice Opera House, gape at the classic Palladian proportions of the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, glide in a gondola down the Grand Canal. And know that love is always in the air in Venice.

Otranto, Italy

Otranto, a coastal gem nestled in the heel of Italy's boot, is a captivating town that effortlessly blends history, natural beauty, and Mediterranean charm. Its crown jewel is the breathtaking Otranto Cathedral, adorned with a stunning mosaic floor that narrates biblical tales. The town's labyrinthine streets lead to charming piazzas, vibrant local markets, and seafood restaurants serving delectable Apulian cuisine. 

Taormina - Sicly, Italy

Barreling under full sail through the narrow Strait of Messina past Scylla and Charybdis, where rock and whirlpool almost claimed Ulysses, you arrive in lovely Taormina. Perched on the shoulder of Mt. Etna, Taormina inspired Goethe to say that'It is the greatest work of art and nature.'

Lipari - Aeolian Islands, Italy

The Aeolian archipelago is made up of 7 islands of volcanic origin, of which only Stromboli and Vulcano are still active volcanoes. The main island is Lipari, which offers travellers arriving by boat a beautiful panorama of its Acropolis, presided over by the Cathedral. Its marina is bustling with shops, boutiques and stalls... it's an island where life is good.

Amalfi, Italy

During the Middle Ages, Amalfi was a powerful republic of 70,000 people, rivalling nearby Ravello. For a sense of Amalfi's medieval glory, wander through the grand Duomo, containing the remains of St. Andrew. Amalfi is a magnificent coastal town offering an enchanting blend of natural beauty, rich history and Mediterranean charm.

Ponza - Pontine Islands, Italy

The pastel houses of Ponza Town rise in neat terraced rows from the busy harbour where sleekly groomed yachts and ramshackle fishing boats moor side by side. Happily, there are few tourists here, so it's a delight to wander through the unspoiled town.

Gaeta, Italy

During the Middle Ages Gaeta, a coastal city south of Rome, was a fortified settlement, and vibrant port which carried out trade with countries in the eastern Mediterranean. Gaeta is shrouded in history and rich in ancient monuments. Here you will find Roman ruins, the statue of the Madonna and Child which looks out protectively over the beautiful Bay of Gaeta. 

Sorrento, Italy

Sorrento, whose city walls rise straight out of the sea, is located on the lovely Amalfi Coast and overlooks the Bay of Naples. Optional excursions might include taking a trip back in history to Pompeii, where the ashen remains of ancient Romans lie frozen in time.
