Air Canada & Manulife Team Up

Air Canada and Manulife have announced a first-of-its-kind loyalty program partnership in Canada that will enable Manulife Group Benefits members to earn Aeroplan points by engaging in behaviours and activities that encourage health and well-being.

Eligible members will be able to link their Aeroplan account with their Manulife group benefits digital account to start earning points for completing health programs and initiatives within the Manulife digital experience. Details around all points, eligible activities, and the number of reward points for each, will be provided in the coming months.

WestJet - International Destinations

WestJet continues to expand their network from Western Canada.  Starting May 17, 2024, WestJet has announced a new direct flight between Seoul, South Korea and Calgary for the summer 2024 schedule (subject to regulatory approvals). With flights operating three times weekly on the 787 Dreamliner, WestJet is Alberta’s only direct link to South Korea.

Non-stop flights between Calgary and Tokyo’s Narita International Airport has increased to daily service starting April 3, 2024. 

Other International destinations with departures out of Calgary (YYC) whose frequency has increased for the summer of 2024 include:

Calgary to Rome - 6 x weekly

Calgary to Barcelona - 4 x weekly

Calgary to Edinburgh - 4 x weekly

Calgary to Dublin - 5 x weekly

Calgary to Paris or London Heathrow remain the same with year-round daily flights.

Airport Improvement Fee Increases 

The following two airports are increasing their Airport Improvement Fees (AIF):

The Greater London International Airport Authority (YXU) in Ontario is increasing its AIF for travel on or after February 1, 2024 and for tickets sold on or after January 1, 2024. The rate will be $15.00 per departing passenger plus applicable taxes.

The Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE) is increasing its AIF for travel on or after January 1, 2024 and for tickets sold on or after January 1, 2024. The rate will be $26.00 per departing passenger plus applicable taxes. The in-province rate will remain at $6.00.
